Context
Many early ideas fail to move forward because founders cannot find the right people and skilled individuals struggle to discover serious projects. Existing platforms feel transactional or overwhelming at this stage. Find My Team was created to support idea exploration and early collaboration by offering a simple space where ideas, roles, and people can connect naturally.
Problems
Idea owners often had clarity on what they wanted to build but not on who to involve or how to invite collaboration. People looking to join projects found it hard to understand expectations, team commitment, or how they could contribute meaningfully. Both sides lacked a clear, low pressure way to start working together with shared context.
Team
Find My Team was built by a small group of friends working closely together. As the product designer, I was responsible for the product experience, from key flows to interface clarity, while collaborating with PMs and Engineers.
Research and Insights
Through informal interviews and early testing, we learned that users cared more about clarity and intent than speed or scale. Pitchers wanted control without complexity, while joiners wanted to feel respected and informed. Both groups valued honesty around availability, expectations, and progress. These insights guided decisions around structure, permissions, and communication.
Approach
We focused on reducing ambiguity at every step by breaking the journey into clear, human actions. Each screen was designed to answer one question at a time, such as what the idea is, who is needed, and how to collaborate. We avoided heavy dashboards and instead emphasized readable content, clear states, and thoughtful constraints.
Create your own role
If no listed role fits your skills, you can propose your own. This lets contributors explain how they can add value in their own way, giving founders more context and opening the door to unexpected but meaningful collaboration.
Auto-build your team
For founders who are unsure who to bring on, the platform suggests a balanced team setup based on the idea. This reduces guesswork early on and helps founders think through the skills needed to move forward.
Team hub
Once a team forms, everyone gets a shared space to stay connected. It keeps conversations, decisions, and next steps in one place so the team can focus on building instead of coordinating tools.
Closing Notes
This project reinforced the value of designing for trust, clarity, and early momentum rather than growth metrics. Working on Find My Team helped me practice restraint in design decisions and focus on everyday usability. The product reflects a belief that meaningful collaboration starts with honest communication and thoughtful structure, not complex tools.
