WhatsApp has become the primary communication tool for many founders, sales teams and community managers. Businesses use it to manage leads, customer conversations, coordinate teams and run communities.

But WhatsApp was never built for enterprise workflows at scale.

Still, users had to keep track of follow-ups, go through groups manually, manage contact lists outside the platform and stay online to send messages at the right time.

My Role

I led the product design process from 0 to 1, working directly with the founder to define the product vision, conduct user research, identify opportunities, design workflows, and create the user experience across the Chrome Extension and mobile application.

Problem

Before exploring solutions, I wanted to understand how people were already using WhatsApp for work.

Through founder discussions and interviews with 10 users, I spoke with founders, business owners, sales professionals, and community managers who relied on WhatsApp daily. Although their use cases differed, they all faced a similar challenge.

To streamline onboarding, we enabled QR Scan which is already a design pattern followed by WhatsApp. This helped users to quickly onboard to the extension without hassle and schedule their first message successful as quickly as possible.

Follow-ups was the greatest value opportunity for users. Rather than asking users to build complicated automation rules, the experience was built around a simple sequence builder that let you schedule messages with configurable delays.
